Every year the collective of the Gisborne Artists, Potters and Photographers Societies unmasks an abundance of fresh work. This year the annual exhibition featuring the various art groups will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Lysnar House Studios. This iconic centre point is well known for artists coming together, attending committee meetings, group activities, workshops, and ‘studio’ exhibitions.
‘Lysnar House’ has an illustrious history, from its construction in the late1800s as a luxurious domicile and home for the Lysnar family. To a museum, an institution of care and a home for artwork, and objects from the natural world, local history and science.
Today, Lysnar House is still a home, now morphed into a studio space, a multipurpose workplace and a haven for the local art community and affiliated art groups and artists.
